Dental Hygienist

In a modern preventative orientated dental practice such as ours, the dental hygienist is a very important member of the team, and is there to ensure that you have all the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a healthy mouth and a confident smile.

Hygienists have both clinical and health promotional responsibilities.

Clinically they help to treat and prevent periodontal (gum) disease by scaling and polishing teeth, applying prophylactic materials, they take dental radiographs and undertake monitoring and screening procedures

Many hygienists work without the chair side assistance of a nurse, however we believe that for our patients comfort and safety it is important that a dental nurse assists and is responsible for the decontamination and sterilising of instruments.
